This Summer, we will present a full-scale production of Frozen Jr. at the Edmond Town Hall theatre in Newtown, starring young actors in 3rd-9th grades. Registration is officially full. We will be opening a waiting list in case we end up with more space. Stay tuned!
Please contact us at newtownstageco@gmail.com with any additional questions.
Our rehearsals will begin on July 22nd and run for two weeks. Rehearsals will be Monday-Friday from 9am until 1pm. During the second week of the program, cast members will break for lunch from 1pm-2pm, and then return to the theater from 2pm-6pm for tech and dress rehearsals.
Because we only have ten days of rehearsals, it is extremely important that our cast is available and committed to being there for all rehearsals. Tech and dress rehearsals are mandatory for all cast members. For the safety of our performers and stage crew, we need everyone to be at these rehearsals so that they can practice performing on the stage and also learn their traffic patterns backstage.
Every child who registers to be in our cast will be featured in the show and there is therefore no need to audition. Auditions are optional and will be used in order to assign roles to those desiring a lead or supporting role in the production. If your child is interested in being considered for a leading role, they must audition. Those who do not wish to audition will be assigned to one of our lively ensemble groupings where they will learn to sing, interact and dance within a group. All participants will also have an opportunity to do an optional dance audition which can help us to cast both leads and featured dancers in the ensemble. Access to audition material and sign-ups is only available when final payment has been received. We will continue to enroll participants as members of our ensemble after auditions have concluded if availability allows.
Auditions for Frozen Jr will take place in June. Once the show is cast, anyone with a cast members will be given a copy of the script to study before rehearsals begin. We ask that all principal actors come to rehearsal on July 22nd as memorized as possible.
During our summer program, we do offer an immersive crew experience to a limited number of interested children. Crew members must be entering 5th-9th grades to participate in this program. They will be given an opportunity to learn about set construction, scenic painting, props, and more.
$800 is the cost for our 2-week program including tech rehearsals and performances. (A $25 sibling discount will be applied to each child enrolled within the same family.)
In addition to an exciting and robust professional theatre experience, all participants will receive a t-shirt and access to a professional digital recording of the performance.
Payment plans are available. Please contact us at newtownstageco@gmail.com to set up a personalized payment schedule.
