About Newtown Stage Co
Erin and Ryan Loucks met working in professional theatre in 2005. For years, they have talked about how much they would love to start a local theatre company. Erin and Katie spent their high school years together, doing theatre in school and at then later working at a theatre camp together. Realizing that Newtown was lacking theatre opportunities, the trio started talking about starting their own company. That conversation led to more conversations and eventually Newtown Stage Co was officially born. While all three members have strong musical theatre backgrounds, Erin has spent years choreographing and teaching dance. Ryan is an avid musician who has years of experience teaching music and musical directing. Katie founded and is the director for a theatre program at her school Westport, where she has been teaching for over 20 years. Their backgrounds and specific expertise make these three the perfect combination for a theater company in Newtown!
Erin Loucks
Erin Loucks is a Newtown native, who grew up doing local theatre throughout Connecticut. She holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Syracuse University and has years of experience performing professionally in theatre and working as a choreographer. Erin believes that theater is a collaborative experience that inspires community, hard-work, leadership, creativity and confidence. Founding a theatre company in her beloved hometown is a dream come true and she absolutely loves to share the joy of theater with her community. When not working on Newtown Stage Co, Erin works as a Realtor® with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate in Newtown. She also enjoys performing in her musical duo, rae. (with husband Ryan) and spending time with her children Dylan and Maya.
Ryan Loucks
Ryan received his B.F.A. in Music Theater form the Hartt School Conservatory @ The University of Hartford and his Masters in Elementary Education, with certification in Music K-12 from The University of Bridgeport. Ryan is a singer, plays multiple instruments, and has been a musician almost his whole life. He spent over 10 years in New York and Los Angeles in multiple bands and acts playing, performing producing, and even receiving certification in Audio Engineering from Pinnacle College while working for Interscope/Universal Records. Ryan has been an actor and spent a lot of his life both on stage and backstage working in theater all over the United States. When not putting on musicals, he spends his days as a K-5 music teacher at Ridgebury Elementary School in Ridgefield. As a Newtown resident and lover of theater, Ryan is thrilled to be part of the team bringing back live theater to Newtown in the community where arts and music are so well received and loved. Ryan lives here in Newtown with his wife Erin, his children Dylan and Maya, and his wild and loving dogs Coda and Kai.
Katie Bloom
Katie Bloom is a co-owner and co-founder of Newtown Stage Company. She developed a love for theater at an early age and honed her skills on the stage in school and community theater productions in and around Newtown for many years. Katie taught several theater education programs before founding and becoming the director of Saugatuck Theater Club in Westport, CT which she has led since its inception in 2018. She co-founded Newtown Stage Company in 2023 with Erin and Ryan. She has over 21 years experience as an elementary school teacher in Westport, CT. Katie has a BA in English Literature, a BA in Elementary Education and a MA in special education K-12. She is currently in a graduate level theater program. Katie loves working on NSCo productions alongside her husband Justin and their three children Cassidy, Landon and Hunter.
