Newtown Stage Company is excited to offer another session of our Beginners acting workshop for Kindergarten through 2nd graders on Thursdays, Feb 27-April 24 (no class on April 17) from 4:15-5:15. Join us for this fun introduction to theater, a playful class designed to teach young actors the basic concepts of theater through improv games and creative play. Class will be taught by two new Newtown Stage Co instructors, Alexa Luft and Jane Shearin. Both of these talented ladies work as para-educators at Head O' Meadow School in Newtown and have strong theatrical backgrounds. They cannot wait for the opportunity to work with your kids!
Newtown Stage Company is excited to offer another session of our Fractured Fairytale Theater workshop to 2nd-4th graders on Thursdays, Jan 30-March 27 (no class on March 13) from 5:30-6:30. Young performers will grow their acting skills as we explore traditional fairytales as well as fractured versions that we will perform for families in our final session together. All participants will be given a role in one or more of the hilarious stories we will tell. These will be different fairytales from what we did last spring. This program will be lead by NSCo Co-Founder and second grade teacher who is also a certified special education teacher, Katie Bloom at the Edmond Town Hall.
During our 4-week Stand-Up Comedy 101 Workshop, kids will learn how to love being their unique and authentic selves through writing and telling jokes in a group setting. Classes are taught by professional, nationally headlining comedians! Join us Thursdays in the NSCo studio from Feb 6-27!
Join Shakespeare expert Kelly Burr and get to know Shakespeare in a very casual way. We will cover all of the basics, from language comprehension to knowing when a joke is tastefully rude. Throughout this six-week course, we will have cover all things Shakespeare, culminating in a mini demonstration for parents!
